Traumatic Impalement Injury - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit features two side (side cut-away) views of the male pelvic region comparing normal anatomy with the traumatic injury in this case. The normal image will clearly reveal the proper structure and appearance of the perineum, anus, rectum and sacrum. The second image shows the impalement with the end of the pole penetrating up through the anus and perineum resulting in multiple lacerations to the anorectal canal and fractures of the inferior half of the sacrum including the perirectal hematoma. Also, included is a colorization of an X-ray of the sacrum that clearly reveals the area affected with all the fractures.
